Camp Concord is a magical place. It gives young people one
of the most meaningful camp experiences available and does so in
one of the most beautiful settings in the world—Lake Tahoe. Through
Friends of Camp Concord, kids who otherwise couldn’t afford
it get the same chance to enjoy a week in the wilderness as anyone
else. Every child should have the opportunity to spend a week at
a camp like this.

Since 1997 we’ve raised over $400,000 sending underprivileged
kids to camp. |

Friends of Camp Concord was established in 1983. It is a nonprofit
organization dedicated to supporting Camp Concord, located in South
Lake Tahoe. Friends of Camp Concord is a group of volunteers whose
efforts directly impact the quality of the facility and programs
offered at Camp Concord. The money raised is directed to a campership
program allowing underprivileged children to attend resident camp.
Friends of Camp Concord has NO paid staff.

A one-week session at Camp Concord provides each child with a caring, well-trained
counselor and a unique group living situation.
The results of this experience in an organized resident camp environment helps
children develop their potential by teaching them new skills, encouraging them
to take healthy risks,and accepting them as part of an important group. Friends
of Camp Concord also raised funds for direct improvements to the facility such
as children’s playground equipment, canoes, and new stoves for the kitchen.
Friends of Camp Concord is involved in a unique partnership with the City of
Concord to continue to provide this award-winning program to families and children
throughout the region. |
